How treatment typically unfolds
Chiropractic care tends to move through stages, though the pace and even the order depend entirely on your situation — some patients move through quickly, others stay in one stage longer, and some only need the first. Your provider will be upfront with you about where you are and why.
Stage 1 — Relief Care
The immediate goal: reduce pain and inflammation, and restore basic function. This stage typically involves more frequent visits, particularly if you're dealing with an acute injury or flare-up. Treatment is focused on calming things down — adjustments, soft tissue work, and modalities aimed at reducing your symptoms as quickly and safely as possible.
How long this stage lasts depends on what you're dealing with. Some patients feel substantially better within a few visits; more involved or chronic conditions take longer.
Stage 2 — Corrective Care
Once acute symptoms have settled, the focus shifts to addressing what caused the problem in the first place — not just the flare-up, but the underlying pattern. This stage often involves a combination of in-office treatment and exercises or habits to work on between visits. Visit frequency typically decreases as your body responds.
This is the stage most people skip if they stop coming in as soon as the pain goes away — which is also usually why the same problem comes back six months later.
Stage 3 — Wellness Care
Once you've addressed the underlying issue, many patients choose to continue with periodic visits to maintain progress, catch small issues before they become big ones, and support ongoing activity and performance. This stage is entirely optional and entirely up to you — some patients continue monthly, some come in seasonally, and some graduate out of active care altogether and return if something comes up.
Good to know before you book
- Typically, no referral is needed. You can book directly.
- We verify your insurance benefits before your first visit, so you're not guessing about costs.
- Same-week appointments are often available — we have early morning and after work slots to support your schedule.
- You won't be pressured into a long-term care plan. We'll tell you what we recommend and why; what you do with that is up to you.
- Bring comfortable clothing if possible — something you can move in makes the exam and any same-day treatment easier.
Frequently Asked Questions
Plan for 30 minutes. Follow-up visits are typically shorter — often 15 minutes, but up to 30 minutes for optional extended or add-on treatments.
Some patients feel immediate relief; others experience mild soreness for a day or two, similar to how you might feel after starting a new exercise routine. Both are normal. Your provider will tell you what to expect based on what they're treating.
It depends entirely on what you're dealing with. Some patients need only a handful of visits; others with more chronic or complex conditions need longer-term care. Your provider will give you an honest projection after your exam — not a one-size-fits-all treatment plan.
No. We'll recommend what we think is appropriate, and you decide what works for you. Some patients move through all three stages of care; many stop at relief care once they feel better. Both are your call.
Your insurance card and any relevant imaging or records if you have them (not required, but helpful if available). We'll send intake forms ahead of time so you can complete those before you arrive.
For new patients, no — the initial exam is what allows us to treat you safely and effectively. Returning patients with an established treatment plan have more flexibility in what a given visit looks like.
